Honouring Warrior Woman Lisa Bellear

Lisa Bellear is a Minjungbul, Goernpil, Noonuccal and South Sea Islander woman from Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island, Queensland), and was born in Naarm (Melbourne), where she became a loved member of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. She was a prolific activist, photographer, broadcaster, poet, feminist, politician, comedian, academic and performer.

Warrior Woman Lane in Carlton was named after Lisa Bellear in November 2018. Two years on, we invite you to go behind the scenes here to find out more about Lisa and to visit Warrior Woman Lane to experience an artistic feast inspired by her life and contribution to the Melbourne community.
